About me.

Farida Dowidar is a British-Egyptian student in the dual BA program between Sciences Po and the University of California, Berkeley. She is studying Political Science and History, with minors in International Relations and Middle East Studies.

She is currently writing for The Daily Californian, UC Berkeley’s campus newspaper, where she works on both cultural think pieces and news articles for the Weekender and News desks. She also freelances for The New Arab.

Farida spent the summer of 2026 as a Newsletter Intern at GZERO Media in New York, reporting and producing short- and long-form analysis for the outlet's daily geopolitical newsletter.

In France, she was the co-Head Editor at the Centre Étudiant pour la Recherche Stratégique (CERS), a geopolitical think tank where she oversaw, copy-edited, and fact-checked long-form political analysis focused on the Middle East, whilst writing her own, too.

Her other experiences span roles such as research assistant at UC Berkeley’s Dept. of Political Science, where she worked on electoral party behaviour in Sub-Saharan Africa, and internships at LYNX Strategic Advisors, a Cairo-based political consultancy, and the UNHCR in Copenhagen.

Farida particularly loves writing about geopolitics, culture, and the legacies of history in the contemporary Middle East. Having lived and studied across the UK, Egypt, Malta, France, and the U.S., her work is shaped by the many perspectives of the places she calls home.
